7 New Year's Resolutions to Keep in 2017
Yes, New Year's resolutions can sound a little cliché, but the ringing in of the new year does give us a chance to reflect on the year that was, and helps us set forth what we want to achieve in the year to come.
Here are 7 simple, but valuable resolutions to set yourself for 2017...
1. Be compassionate
Towards animals, other humans and the environment. It's easy to do, and it creates so much goodness, so why not?
2. Take time for mindfulness
Be it through meditation, yoga, a hot bath or going for a walk. Whatever feels comfortable for you, remember to stop every now and then to take some time for yourself.
3. Try something new
Do you have a hobby or skill that you've always wanted to pursue? Perhaps it's Tai Chi, learning to sew or to speak another language. Give it a go this year - you've got nothing to lose.
4. Support ethical brands
We have power through our choices as consumers. By supporting brands doing good in the world (i.e. with fair worker rights, earth friendly production practices and no animal cruelty), we can help make the world a fairer, more compassionate place.
5. Cook more
Creating food to share with others, or just for yourself, is one of life's great joys.
It allows you to get creative and to try new things (which you may never had thought you'd love).
By taking a little time to cook meals from scratch too, you can avoid a lot of packaging wastage, and your food will likely be healthier (and cheaper) too!
6. Immerse yourself in nature
Take time to connect with your natural environment. Head to the beach, go hiking, picnic in the botanic gardens, or just stroll over to your closest park. By spending time in nature, you give yourself calmness and clarity, which will then help you accomplish tasks more effectively.
7. Stop, and reflect
Every now and then, take a moment out from life's day-to-day, to remind yourself of what you're passionate about.
Are you pursuing your passions? If you're not, don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone to do what makes you happy. You never know where it may take you..
