This beautiful range of heels is made by Portuguese shoe label NAE, who create animal-friendly shoes that are gentle on the environment.

They use several types of animal-free materials, but we especially love their striking cork range.

All of NAE's shoes are made in Portugal, in fair working conditions and without any animal-derived products. The name stands for 'No Animal's Exploited', their slogan being Fashion with compassion ♡.

These shoes have been left in their minimalistic natural colour, which we love as it plays with the idea of what you'd usually expect a pair of heels to look like - paying homage to their origins.

But cork leather can also be dyed to produce some wonderful results, like this teal-coloured work bag we recently got our hands on.

This ecological and animal-friendly alternative material to leather is also being used around the world to make other accessories such as wallets, handbags and jewellery.

Cork certainly is an exciting new fashion textile of the future,
and we look forward to seeing more of it.

Keep your eyes pealed for more posts featuring this vegan-friendly, sustainable material.

She works in ethical fashion, and is also a model for ethical and sustainably minded brands (drop her a line here if you'd like to work with her).

After being vegetarian for many years, and gradually transitioning towards veganism, she attended a panel discussion 2 years ago on the dairy industry (held by Voiceless). From then on, it made complete sense to commit to a fully vegan lifestyle, as a way of being compassionate towards animals, the environment and people.

It was then a natural progression to consider the impacts of her other daily decisions, and so her interest in ethical fashion and sustainably minded living in general was born.
