The unprecedented scale and fercoity of bushfires in Australia this summer has, amongst its horrors, also shown the extraordinary compassion that we humans are capbable of.

And one of the ways that is being manifested, is in the generosity of businesses which are donating their profits this January to help animals and people who have been injured or displaced by the fires.

Below are some of the businesses with ethical, sustainably-made values that we know of, who are joining this appeal. If you know of more, or would like to be included in the list below, please email us here

100% PROFITS DONATED IN JAN : DESIGN BY THEM

Double points: 100% profits from sales of this 100% recycled plastic bin will be donated to Red Cross. 100% + 100% = good stuff!

One of my favourite Australian furniture stores is generously donating 100% of profits from all online sales in January to the Australian Red Cross. There’s a lot to like about Design By Them, not least because they manufacture in Australia and celebrate orginal design, but also because of their heavy focus on recycled components and environmentally sensitive production.

A case in point is this Confetti waste bin, itself made from 100% recycled plastic, with a removable mesh insert.

  • All other products (including chairs, tables, umbrella stands, etc.) here.

As the "mother" half of the Future King & Queen mother-daughter duo, Virginia is a Melbourne based designer who firmly believes that living kindly is a series of daily choices that we can each make in order to touch the earth more lightly. At the age of 11, she wrote a passionate English essay about the practice of animal testing in the cosmetics industry, as part of a school assignment - and as an adult, has strived to encourage her 3 children to become compassionate, thinking young adults who care for both others around them and the world in which they live.

Virginia has been vegan for more than 2 years, after attending a talk by Phillip Wollen (OAM) when all the lightbulbs suddenly went on! Here was a way to live that touched the earth more lightly, didn't involve harm to animals, and opened the door to a much more healthy lifestyle.
