The Bushfires in Australia : businesses donating January profits to help

‘Gum Leaves in a Jar Study’ by Elizabeth Barnett, up for auction in the Art Fights FIre campaign, organised by the Design Files.

The unprecedented scale and fercoity of bushfires in Australia this summer has, amongst its horrors, also shown the extraordinary compassion that we humans are capbable of.

And one of the ways that is being manifested, is in the generosity of businesses which are donating their profits this January to help animals and people who have been injured or displaced by the fires.

Below are some of the businesses with ethical, sustainably-made values that we know of, who are joining this appeal. If you know of more, or would like to be included in the list below, please email us here

100% PROFITS DONATED IN JAN : DESIGN BY THEM

Funds to australian red cross

Double points: 100% profits from sales of this 100% recycled plastic bin will be donated to Red Cross. 100% + 100% = good stuff!

One of my favourite Australian furniture stores is generously donating 100% of profits from all online sales in January to the Australian Red Cross. There’s a lot to like about Design By Them, not least because they manufacture in Australia and celebrate orginal design, but also because of their heavy focus on recycled components and environmentally sensitive production.

A case in point is this Confetti waste bin, itself made from 100% recycled plastic, with a removable mesh insert.

  • Design By Them Confetti waste bin here.

  • All other products (including chairs, tables, umbrella stands, etc.) here.

Design by Them ‘bow bench’ forms an inviting place to linger, in this residential design by Lauren Weiss Interiors San Francisco. Image details here.
