Vegan Travels in NYC // What To Eat at Chelsea Market

Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or just aim to add more of these foods to your diet, eating plant-based whilst travelling need not actually be too challenging.

Sometimes it requires a little more research, but often you can stumble upon wonderful delights, even in the most unexpected places.

On a recent trip to New York, we were delighted to come across the Chelsea Market, as it is home to a wide array of delicious vegan foods.

This charming market is housed in a former Oreo biscuit factory (earning it bonus points, since Oreos are indeed vegan), and has striking interiors that manage to pay homage to their history, whilst still feeling contemporary.

The market is the kind of place where you could happily while away half a day, as there are so many interesting stalls to explore (from food, to homewares and fashion).
But even with only an hour or less, it's still well worth a visit.

Not to mention, vegans and vegetarians are at no risk of going hungry here.
There's plenty of fresh produce on offer,  as well as bagels & other baked goods, sweet treats, teas & spices, and even an all-vegan sushi store.

Several dairy-free options available from the newly opened Seed + Mill, a stall specialising in artisan-made halva and tahini.

One place absolutely not to be missed though is Bar Suzette, a creperie which offers delicious dairy-free + egg-free options.

They do a savoury crepe packed full of truffled hummus and fresh vegetables, which we are still dreaming about back here on the other side of the globe.

The vegan batter is made with lentils and brown rice, making it super nourishing and also gluten free.

Vegan + Gluten Free Crepe, loaded with truffled hummus, fresh lemon juice, shredded vegetables & arugula.

Fresh,  vibrant sushi +  japanese fare from innovative 100% plant-based Beyond Sushi.

This enchanting market really is somewhere where you would discover new treasures each time you visit.

If you're traveling in New York, it's definitely not to be missed.

How lovely to find yet another example of the bountiful plant-based options to be found whilst traveling, even when you're not expecting them.
