Sustainable Homewares // Made to Last and Made in the UK

Made in Ireland, the Mullan Bridgetown Chandelier is a contemporary take on a traditional light, and carries a 25 year guarantee.

Homewares built to last. What a pleasant change.

We have all been frustrated with how quickly shoddy, poorly made goods begin to fall apart at the edges. It might look ok to start with, if you look past the wonky junctions & poor finish. Rusted metal, chipped paint, cracked plastic.

And if it needs to be replaced, the cheap item suddenly becomes not so cheap after all.

It's such a waste : of resources to make it, and land space to store it when discarded.

So we were pleasantly delighted to come across a company in the UK which has decided to do something about it.

Hunting for quality light fittings, we stumbled across Made To Last, which sources and sells products that are manufactured in the British Isles to a high standard. Focussing on the lifespan of a product, rather than the cheapest price, is a different way of judging the value of a product. All their products clearly state the number of years (up to 25!) of guarantee applicable.

We're a bit smitten with this 6 light contemporary chandelier, which comes in polished or antique brass & satin or antique silver. It retails for £392.

Sustainable lighting made in the UK? That's great.
Do they have other homewares too?

As well as pendant lighting, Made To Last also sells other types of lighting made in the UK - including table lamps, picture lights, wall lights & even light bulbs.

But the list of UK made homewares products goes on!

There are toasters, dining tables, kettles and baking dishes. Clocks and chopping boards. Bookcases and sofa beds.

Traditionally made, the products cater to both contemporary and traditional interiors, and all share the inherent quality of making something to last beyond the one year lifespan of many standard products available in the homewares market.

We love that idea!

Anything else?

Yes, Made To Last have also sourced UK made clothing, accessories, jewellery and even timber trugs (garden baskets) for gathering home-grown fruit, veggies and flowers.
